| Musical background: | I started leading congregational singing in church at age 10. Got into high school choir 'cause my mom made me (that was hard to explain to the guys I played football with!) and ended up being a regional finalist 4 years in a row. I was lucky enough to be offered a choir scholarship to Abilene Christian University and sang with the ACU Acapella Choir as well as numerous other vocal groups and bands during the 5 years I spent there. I discovered the local honky-tonks around West Texas began my love affair with traditional country music. I moved to Austin in 1991 and played with a number of Austin bands including Honky Tonk Heart, Neon Cowboyz, The Bunkhouse Boys and was eventually hired as the front man for a band called Loaded Dice. The group eventually became the road band for MCG/Curb recording artists Blake & Brian and the guys were nice enough to keep me on as the rhythm guitar player for a year and a half. My most recent stint was as the front man for the Somewhere in Texas band. |
